Yukon Visitors Can Buy Online, But Salmon and Parks Change the Plan
Most visitors can buy a Yukon fishing licence through the Yukon online service, a Department of Environment office, or an authorised seller. Before buying, decide whether you are a non-resident Canadian, a non-resident alien, or an Alaska resident using the Yukon resident fee path.
For 2026-27, a Yukon season fishing licence costs $30.79 for non-resident Canadians and $43.11 for non-resident aliens before GST. Short visits can use a 6-day or 1-day licence. Salmon fishing needs a separate Salmon Conservation Catch Card.
If the trip is inside Kluane, Ivvavik, or Vuntut national park, do not stop at the Yukon territorial licence. Those park waters use a national park fishing licence instead.

For a short trip, the annual price is not always the best fit. Yukon publishes 1-day and 6-day choices for visitors, which can keep a road trip or fly-in stop simple.

Buying Online Without Missing the Extra Step
Use the Yukon online service when you already know the residency class and licence length. Save the licence where you can show it without a strong signal, especially on highway, lake, or remote-water trips.
If salmon is part of the plan, add the Salmon Conservation Catch Card. Yukon guidance treats that card as a separate requirement, including for youth under 16 when fishing for salmon.

Salmon rules can change with fishery notices. Before a salmon trip, check the current notice for the river, drainage, or species you plan to fish. The licence purchase is only one part of the decision.
Kluane, Ivvavik and Vuntut Use the Park Permit Path
Yukon territorial licences do not cover every protected area. If the trip is inside Kluane National Park and Reserve, Ivvavik National Park, or Vuntut National Park, use the national park fishing licence path.
Park waters can also have gear rules that differ from nearby territorial waters. Kluane guidance, for example, points anglers to park-specific restrictions such as barbless hooks, no bait, and no lead tackle.
For a mixed trip, separate the plan into two parts: territorial water first, then park water. That keeps the licence, season, and gear rules from getting blended together.
